Home Remedies To Cure Common ENT Ailments

The most common complaints a person incurs in his lifetime are ear nose throat infections. More than half of the cases a physician receives are from patients with ear nose throat concerns. ENT doctors normally treat sinusitis, ear infections, tonsillitis, nosebleeds, sleep apnea, and allergies. While there is no alternative to a visit to the doctor's office, you can try some natural cures at home.

For common and non-life threatening conditions, you can try natural home cures. Colds, sore throat, and other common problems that harass you usually have simple solutions that you can easily get at home.

For starters, drink a lot of water and other fluids. Water and fruit juices help loosen congestion. Also said to work wonders are herbal teas. Examples of herbal teas that you can get advantage from when you have ear nose throat complaints are peppermint tea, a natural decongestant; aniseed and holy basil tea, for quick cough relief; chamomile tea, for sore throat; and thyme tea, a natural expectorant.

When suffering from ear nose throat complaints, avoid drinking alcohol, coffee, soda, and other caffeinated beverages. They will just aggravate your dehydration.

Taking chicken soup is not only good for your soul, it is also good for your body if you have cough and colds. Its anti-inflammatory property is effective in alleviating cold and flu symptoms. It also accelerates mucus movement to help relieve congestion.

If you have a sore throat, gargling warm water with a half teaspoon of salt can relieve the pain in the meantime. Add antibacterial action by adding essential oils such as tea tree, bergamot and lemon to your warm salt water gargle.

Try inhaling aromatherapy steam during sinusitis attack. Essential oils can offer analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties, which help unclog your airways. Add a few drops of anise, eucalyptus, or peppermint to the steam inhalation.

Garlic is considered one of the best herbal medicines because of its antimicrobial properties. It is particularly very effective in healing ear nose throat complaints, such as ear infections and laryngitis.

Herbal home cures are tried and tested answers to healing common ear nose throat complaints. However, one should note that they are only used as preventive measures and during the beginning stages of the conditions. If the symptoms persist for several days or for more than regular, don't hesitate to go to an otolaryngologist or an ENT specialist.
